'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Relatives of Unaccounted For Young People Await News After Alpine Inferno

Teenage Swiss national a young man from Switzerland is one of those unaccounted for.

The relatives of young people unaccounted for after a tragic fire at a venue in a Swiss winter destination are confronting an excruciating wait for official news and pleading for clues about their loved ones publicly.

The blaze devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of January 1st. Confirmed footage show the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.

Authorities have stated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the victims of the disaster, which resulted in the death of 40 people and injured another scores more. Authorities stated on the latest update that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with work still underway to locate the final individuals.

In the interim, families and friends have been using online platforms to plead for information about their loved ones who were present at the venue that fateful night.

Appeals for the Missing

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are still unconfirmed, according to an heartfelt request from his parent.

The resident of a town near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the same in the capital, but was unsuccessful.

"It feels like a terrible dream, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in a serious state. Words cannot describe it," she stated.

She continued that some of his companions had been located with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's indescribable; they experienced an absolute nightmare."

The Italian government has said that a number of of its nationals remain missing.

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in Switzerland, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her brother has posted an appeal on social media, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.
