Over the course of the show, viewers witnessed murders, betrayals, intense glares, and an unforgettable incident that pierced all suspense.

However on the final evening, the final winner of the first Celebrity Traitors was revealed.

Out of 19 contestants, only five remained: Traitors and faithfuls competing for the winnings.

Soon, the field narrowed to just three: the final players.

Ultimately, comedian Alan Carr emerged as the winner, in a shocking outcome that went viral and made him tearful.

"This has been destroying me, my apologies," he declared, admitting to the remaining faithfuls that he was actually a traitor. "I'm an awful human being."

"You played amazingly," they consoled him. "It's all right."

Online platforms quickly erupted with this development. "Most awful traitor ever being the best traitor ever," wrote a viewer.

"It couldn't have been a better conclusion," wrote another, while a third described it as "the TV moment of the year."

His chosen charity, a cancer charity, gets to keep the entire winnings, with the final pot amounting to eighty-seven thousand five hundred pounds.

Alan Carr's transformation from giggle liability to strategic player was among the most memorable aspects of the season.

But his win still left the nation in shock, according to entertainment reporters.

"The idea of Alan, of all people, executing a masterclass in deceit felt just as probable as him maintaining a straight face through his comedy routines."

During follow-up conversations, fellow players explained why no one had truly doubted him.

"He might have come down to breakfast in a green cloak and I wouldn't have believed he was a traitor. I was too busy laughing," a player said.

"The majority didn't target him because how does one eliminate a person so charming?" questioned another celebrity.

The winner stated he had "absolutely loved" his time on the show.

"I want to participate once more... I doubt it would be successful again!"

The final episode was lengthened to over an hour on television. There was a different start than usual, as all the celebs were aware who would appear at the morning gathering.

There was particularly inspiring, and very un-Traitors-esque soundtrack, as we recapped key scenes from every remaining player's time in the castle.

As ever, the comedian gave us unforgettable quotes.

"Let's face it, I started this game as something of a nervous wreck. I've betrayed close allies under the bus, I've eliminated national treasures in plain sight. I'm clearly a better liar and traitor than I believed."

At the same time, another contestant noted that being in the final was "way more stressful than competing with England", while another said he was "totally surprised" to have lasted this long.

Early on in the episode, several players seemed to be making a bid to become the new style icon of the competition, taking over from the previously eliminated style leader.

Carr emerged at breakfast looking like a 1950s US chat show host in patterned burgundy attire, before changing into a bejewelled white suit.

But he was out-jacketted by a fellow player's burgundy formal wear. What a look.

Following this was the challenge, with the remaining contestants boarding a train named - of course - The Deceivers' Railway.

This task saw them ripping up portraits of eliminated players. Spare a thought for one participant who was hit in the head multiple times by the cover of a heavy wooden box.

Soon after, it was time for the elimination discussion.

The deceivers made a pact beforehand, vowing to stick together. "We've come a long way, I'm not going to betray him," stated a player, while the other just giggled.

However, one adhered to his promise. But, having slipped under the radar for the majority of the competition, their partner still got the most votes.

The remaining traitor looked like to be experiencing a world of pain to be the last traitor standing. "Now I'm on my own, I'm frightened," he said. "I'm a loose cannon, a rudderless ship."

Social media and viewers were equally disappointed.

"I hoped against that player to be eliminated. A truly loveable traitor," commented an observer.

"Your legacy will remain in Traitors history," wrote another user.

However, there remained no time to focus on their elimination. Soon, the game reached the final stage - which was what we were really all here for.

The final four gathered around the fire pit. And the alliance collapsed, just when it was most crucial, in an absolutely shocking development.

A player was painfully banished - following a surprising decision from their ally, who turned against them.

"It hurts to be betrayed last minute like that," remarked the ousted contestant. Subsequently, it was revealed that if they ever communicate, the eliminated contestant calls their former ally by a betrayer's name.

Finally, just three players were still competing: the final trio.

One player, looking incredibly smug, chose to conclude the competition. So did another, and everything depended on the third, who made the identical choice - which meant that the traitor emerged victorious.

For observers, the moment where remaining contestants comforted the winner was "compelling television". "I anticipate it will be in the running for outstanding scene at television honors," they commented.

Fortunately, the champion quickly regained composure from his bout of tears, and could finally appreciate the moment.

"What a rollercoaster. I was awful at lying, my expressions gave me away and now I stand a winner," he said.

And he even made light of that infamous murder - his best friend in an early episode - by leaning toward the presenter in the final scene and making contact.

"You've got something on your face," he said, with his trademark giggle.

The recent episodes of celebrity gossiping, plotting and sometimes unexpected moments may seem like a bizarre fantasy. Yet it actually all happen. It will be remembered fondly.
