🔗 Share this article One of the Avatar-themed cutest collectible cards turns out to be a nasty small force. Magic: The Gathering’s Avatar crossover set won’t hit the general market until later this week, yet after pre-releases recently, one cheap green card saw a sharp rise in price. Even during previews, this small creature garnered a lot of attention. A creature with stats 2/2 requiring a single green and one generic mana, it has level 1 earthbending (possibly the most effective of the elemental mechanics available). The real boon in its design lies in its second ability: Whenever you tap a creature for mana, you gain one extra green mana. Initially, this card sold below $30. Post-prerelease, however, the market price has shot up to $49.66 and one seller offering priced at sixty dollars. What explains Vivi prices on this adorable card? Primarily thanks to the incredible mana acceleration it provides. As it hits the battlefield, this creature transforms a terrain card so it becomes a creature that has earthbending. And with that second ability, while it stays in play, every earthbent land generates double mana — plus any creatures on your side that generate mana. The obvious go-to for maximum effect is Llanowar Elves, a cheap 1/1 which can be tapped for a green resource. But there are plenty of creatures that make mana available. This particular druid is a higher-cost choice with stats 1/3 costing two mana in comparison. By playing lands, creatures that tap for mana, and Badgermole Cub, you may quickly play a massive high-cost creature on the battlefield by round three or four. Momentum builds out of control with continued aggression from that point. If you dip into another color using this method, cards like versatile mana producers are excellent picks that can make all five colors. Another card, a useful enchantment creature lets you play an additional land per turn plus transforms every land you control providing all land types. Another possibility is for example a card called A Realm Reborn, at a six-mana investment gives each permanent you control the capacity to produce a mana of any type — which covers all creatures in play. This card may be OP regarding boosting mana production, however how do you win with this archetype? One obvious and popular answer is Ashaya, Soul of the Wild. Its power and toughness match how many lands you have, and it makes your non-token creatures into Forests along with other subtypes. This means, each creature you control is able to produce double green when tapped. This additional option is another expensive, beefy creature which gains from many terrain cards (like Ashaya, its power and toughness match how many lands you have). This Planeswalker is an excellent fit in this deck. Her static effect makes every Forest produce extra green. (With a Badgermole Cub, that means all earthbend forests produce triple green.) Her main ability acts as a form of land animation, putting +1/+1 counters on a land, handy though it doesn't stack with earthbending. Her ultimate, on the other hand, renders your entire land base unbreakable and allows you to put onto the battlefield every Forest left in your deck. Once you trigger this power, it almost certainly you win. The cub is a must-have in any decks using green and Avatar that use earthbend. If you dip into red-green, you can use this legendary card. This card features earthbend 4, and when it hits a player to an opponent, all land creatures untap for another attack. Even though Bumi has become a fan favorite Commander, this small creature will surely stay among the top, possibly the popular pick in the collaboration.
