Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
