The former Liverpool manager admits a return to manage Liverpool is conceivable.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains a possibility. Klopp, after a transformative nine-season tenure featuring continental glory and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, currently occupies positions as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed England's top flight in the previous campaign, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would embrace the possibility of his potential comeback. During an extensive chat, he shared with the podcast host: “I said I won't manage any other side within the country. Which implies in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, that means I might decide down the line, I don’t know. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about what circumstances would have to unfold to bring him back to the dugout, he revealed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip media briefings multiple times weekly or constant media duties a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the players talking freely, is pleasant. With many victories thus frequently a very good mood in the building. I can still hear the captain's chuckle vividly recalled for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, crediting him for the adjustments which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row in every contest following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the suggestion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in in 2020, and its impact at the club. The Portugal international died tragically in a road accident with his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room without him in it. Putting it into words is tough about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates as well. Not a single person will ever use it for poor performances though it's a fact. Being in that space which he filled completely. Coping with it emotionally is challenging. Impossible.”
