Both have been linked with the manager's job at the Premiership title holders following Brendan Rodgers' departure on the start of the week. McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club The Ipswich boss described the Glasgow giants as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side. The 39-year-old assumed control of Portman Road in recent years and guided the team to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they won just four games last campaign as they were relegated back to the second division and they currently sit 12th in England's second tier. "I have not had such conversations," the English capital native former Northern Ireland youth international said when asked about being on the candidate list. "It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my focus is currently. "I have a special job here at a special club. And we're at a really important phase of the campaign. Anything external hasn't reached my awareness." Background and Contractual Aspects Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances. "During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when questioned about those. "I don't think all people has to publicly and announce what they were, but of course it's a really big sports organization." The coach signed a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his alleged buyout clause. "Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you regardless! "I approach this role like I will remain Ipswich manager indefinitely. I know that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I will consistently give maximum effort as long as I am here." Bellamy's Situation The former striker represented Celtic on loan from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Wales striker is minded to complete the current World Cup campaign, a stance that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position. Wales are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers the Red Devils and runners-up Macedonia. Wins over the minnows and North Macedonia in November would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of making those, due to a successful Nations League campaign, even if they not end up their group runners-up. Given his current position, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after the European Championship, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the minimum.
